Reporting

As the Appalachia Health News Reporter at West Virginia Public Broadcasting, an NPR member station based in Charleston, W.Va., I report on a variety of health topics across the region. Alongside my written reporting, I produce audio stories, which air on All Things Considered weekly. As part of my role, I cover the state’s legislative actions, appearing on The Legislature Today, a broadcast television show our station produces daily during the annual session.

From 2018 to 2021, I was the Lifestyles Editor at The Bluefield Daily Telegraph. Initially hired as a Reporter, I and was soon promoted to this position. As the Lifestyles Editor, I generated original feature stories for the weekly Lifestyles section of the newspaper. In addition to those responsibilities, I was the Associate Editor of the newspaper’s magazine, Prerogative Magazine. For all of my roles at The Bluefield Daily Telegraph, I acquired, wrote, edited, designed and photographed content for our readers.

In 2017, I worked as a Multimedia Journalist at The Journal in Cortez, Colorado. This newspaper's coverage reaches across three counties to bring news to the four corners area of Colorado. I was the photographer, videographer and education beat reporter for this publication.

I began freelancing for the Charleston Gazette-Mail in July of 2016 covering the City Council Meetings of St. Albans, WV and South Charleston, WV. Samples are available at the link above.

During my time writing for Marshall University's newspaper, The Parthenon I covered the city and politics beat through an election cycle, breaking down local politics for my fellow students.

Humans of Huntington is a project I began in 2013 inspired by Brandon Stanton, a photographer based in New York City. I began exploring the city I lived in and learned the importance of each member of a community.
